Practice Self Care

Friday, September 9, 2016

Now that I am a mommy and my life revolves around my little guys needs and wants, I can tell I won't always get to fix my hair, or do my nails. Honestly, I don't miss those things much, although I was able to straighten my hair a week ago and everyone noticed it and commented how pretty I looked. Ha!
Anywho, this got me thinking about self care and taking care of you even after baby. They say you have to take care of yourself in order to take care of others.

While on Pinterest during a 430am feeding session (not complaining, my little guy fed and fell asleep at 930pm, woke and fed at 2am then again at 430am, then he slept until morning)-I came across this pin and loved it! Fifty ways to practice self care, and I thought it was too good to not share with you!

Here are my top 5 favorite from this list:
1. Have a mini declutter session
(I've been doing this since the last few weeks before having Lucas, just trying to organize our lives more).

2. Shut off your phone for a few hours (We get so involved in what everyone else is doing sometimes, concentrate on you).

3. Binge watch your favorite show on Netflix (Basically what I do while nursing and hanging out with Lucas).

4. Listen to music, close your eyes and really listen (I did this so often when I was a teenager).

5. Have a cup of coffee from your favorite coffee shop (I don't have a favorite coffee shop, but I do love me some Trader Joes coffee, also coffee relaxes me, it doesn't keep me up).

What are some of your favorite ways to "take care of yourself" or ways to give yourself a few minutes of "me time"?

  1. LOVE this! Yes to all the coffee and shutting off your phone. I try to limit myself to checking each social media app only once per day because what other people are doing is no where near as important as living in the moment of your own life. Happy Friday gurlie <3

  2. These are all great ideas!! Taking care of yourself is so important but it's hard to remember to make that a priority sometimes.

  3. All of those are great!! btw you're on my blog today!

  4. Love this list... especially turning off your phone for a few hours! Truly, that sounds super relaxing, and I may have to practice that even before my little babe arrives :) :)

  5. I feel like these are great tips for anyone. I would like to take advantage of a few myself :)

  6. I so need to get better about disconnecting - I feel like a limb is missing if my phone isn't with me LOL! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
