#100SUMMERMILES-UPDATE, The only girl

Thursday, August 28, 2014

What a slow week this has been for me as far as running goes. I ran once, walked the rest and dinar walk much either.

A mile is better than no mile. I did not meet my weekly goal this week, but going over my weekly goals in the past makes it ok and I'm still on track to completing #100SummerMiles.

Thursday I ran 2.70 miles at the #Pena5K

Tuesday I walked 2.07 miles.

Wednesday I walked 2.00 miles.

I was the only girl at the #Pena5K last week. It's starting to get chilly and darker earlier. I'm afraid we won't be able to run outside much longer. I think maybe by October it'll be too dark by the time we can run. I'm not a fan of the gym so we will see how that goes.

Here is my total as of yesterday:
August 21-August 27

BOSTON WOUNDED VETERANS 5K

Tuesday, August 26, 2014

I have been running lately, running a lot more than I have ever run. I even participated in the Finish at the 50 5K at the Gillette Stadium in July. If you would have asked me a few years ago to run, I would've said no as I shoved another cookie in my mouth. I have to admit that you are who you surround yourself with. My fiance has been on this fitness kick for the past 2 years, and I have joined him, a little slower than him but I'm right behind him enjoying every minute of it. Check out #Pena5K on social media to see photos of us running, as well as #100SummerMiles to see how many miles Kendwy and I have under our belt.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm running another 5K this October, and this one is extra important for me as it is for a very good cause, my future brother in law, a US Army Veteran, is coordinating it with the help of others, and the cause hits close to home. It is the Boston Wounded Veteran's run. The proceeds will help veterans who have been wounded in combat. I have cousins and brothers in all of the military branches. Two brothers in the Air Force, two cousins in the Navy, another in the Army. Some are still serving, others are Veterans, including my future brother in law, Marvin.

Photo provided by Marvin Peña. Taken at a Wounded Veteran Motorcycle run earlier this year.

I would love to see some of my blogger friends join me on this run, please know that you don't have to run, you can also walk.

Here are some of the details:
What: Boston Wounded Veterans 5K
When: October 12, 2014
Time: 10am
Where: Breakheart Reservation, Saugus, MA
How much: $35 online, $40 on race day

Use #BostonWoundedVeterans5K if you're planning on participating so I could see. Please remember that the proceeds go to helping veterans wounded during combat.

Let me know down below if you are interested, feel free to contact me if you are or contact Marvin himself with any questions or concerns.

WHEN TO CLEAN OUT YOUR MAKEUP

Friday, August 22, 2014

I recently received a gift from my cousin who is a Mary Kay representative. Be sure to check out Ingrid on instagram and let her know I sent you! With the gift she included a note from Mary Kay with tips on when to clean out your makeup, today, I am sharing those tips with you.

Some of these "rules" I already knew, some I follow, others I don't- #rebel.

Mascara: Your mascara should be replaced every 3 months.
Once it is opened, oxygen affects the mascara and it starts to collect bacteria.

Eyeliner: Liquid or pencil eyeliners should be replaced every 3 months.
Pencils should be sharpened before each use to clean and preserve them.

Foundation: Unopened, your foundation can last 2 years,
but once opened you should replace it every 6-12 months.

Lipstick: Replace your lipstick or lip gloss after 1 year.
Don't share your lip products, and dispose of them if they become dry or change in color.

Concealer: Liquid concealers should be replaced after 1 year, while powders and sticks can last for 2 years. Keep an eye out for color change which means it has expired.

Blusher: Blushers have the same shelf life as other powders, 2 to 3 years.
Cream blushes have a shorter shelf life and should be replaced after 1 year.

Powder: Powders should be kept in a cool, dry place, not your bathroom!
Pressed powder can last for 2 years, and lose powder can last up to 3 years.

So what do you think? Do you follow any of these makeup shelf life rules? Which do you follow? Which do you break? Let me know in the comments section below!

WEDDING UPDATE- Food Tasting Event

Wednesday, August 20, 2014

Date:✔️
Venue: ✔️

Since we chose the date there really isn't much to update on, except that we changed our mind about the room we chose for the reception. We went back and forth thinking about the small wedding or the big wedding. We went with the big wedding and booked a beautiful room big enough to host both of our families. Then, we changed our minds. We are looking forward to a small intimate wedding. We love our big family, but at the end of the day, we decided to keep it intimate.

This photo is everything right now, we took it before we were engaged and I wrote in it because I want to always remember that the wedding is a beautiful day to enjoy our families in one place and have a not of a fairy tale wedding us girls want. However, the marriage is what it comes down to... I want a marriage more beautiful than my wedding.

------------------------------------------------
The other day we got our first letter from our venue asking us to RSVP for an upcoming food tasting. A WHAT? What a way to finally make this "real life, planning a wedding". Needless to say we are so excited for this event and we get to share it with two guests.

If you know anything about Jose is that he loves to eat, and he loves to eat good food! One of his main concerns as far as our weddig is that the food is amazing. Before we put our deposit down we went to eat at our venue to see their service and actual food. It was delicious..! We want our guests to have really good food. If you think about it, what are the things you remember the most from the last wedding you attended?

That is really our only update for the wedding. I still have no dress, we discussed posible colors, but still nothing set in stone.

I hope you follow us through our journey and lend us a hand if we ever seek out advice.  Want to see more? Follow this blog here
