Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub

Wednesday, November 6, 2013

Although it does get worst in the cooler months, it doesn't matter if it's Winter or Spring, dry lips seem to always be an issue for me. So I'm always on the hunt for products that will help with my dry and cracked lips. I have a massive collection of chapsticks, lip balms, you name it-I have it. Recently I have seen many YouTubers rave about a handmade lip scrub from Lush. I was all ears!

I had a special request from a follower on Twitter-@ambipage to do this review.. So here it is.
(She also has a blog ambifashion, make sure to check her out and let her know I sent you!)

This lip scrub is handmade by Lush and has an expiration date! The whole expiration date had me interested, it must be good it it goes bad? The scrub is made of Castor Sugar, Cold pressed organic Jojoba oil and some flavoring. It is Preservative free and Vegan.

The Lush store that I went to had three different scents/flavors, I got mine in Bubblegum because well, I love everything bubblegum. I smelled the Mint Lips and it was way too strong for me. Might be a good pick for all of you Mint lovers. I've also seen a Popcorn one and Santa's Lips which sound interesting!

You can find them at the store or buy online, they sell for $9.95. I think the price point is just right for what the product actually does. They also have lip balms to apply right after the scrub for $7.25. I did not buy the lip balm as I already own way too many lip balms and was just in need of a good scrub.

Well, I decided to give the scrub a try, & let me tell you this is the best scrub I have ever used! I was last using the Elf lip scrub that looks like a lipstick! It was ok, it worked fine until I found this...

At the store I was told to pinch a little with my finger, and rub all over my closed lips until I felt I did enough scrubbing. I was then told to just lick the product off. It's completely edible but I would rather wipe away and apply a balm right after.

It comes in a jar, and the actual product was filled to the very top. Definitely worth the money... It's actually fun to exfoliate my lips now and it's a process I enjoy doing at the end of the night.

Obviously the texture is gritty, it's basically all sugar. I know there are plenty of DIY scrubs all over the web, however if you are like me and would rather get an already made product that actually works... This is it.

Have you tried the Lush Lip Scrubs? What do you think if them? Tried any other of the Lush products? Let me know in the comments section below!

  2. Haven't tried Lush, since they don't ship here, but I like to make my own scrubs using olive oil, brown sugar, and honey. :)

  8. I love the LUSH lip scrubs! I own the Bubblegum one (I keep it in my shower), the Sweet Lips one (I keep it by my bathroom basin) and I just bought the limited edition holiday themed Santa's Lip Scrub.

Nothing worse than flaky, dry lips... :)

  9. Hi, I have one of these and I was wondering can we still use it after the expiration date? Mine expired a few days ago.
    Thank you!
